Firelands Rails To Trails has started a Volunteer Trail Patrol for our Huron County portion of the North Coast Inland Trail, modeled after the successful VTP program in Sandusky County that has been patrolling for several years.
The VTP is composed of citizens who provide “block watch” type coverage of the trail as they use the trail for exercise, commuting, or recreation. VTP members are trained for this role as the eyes-and-ears of our Ranger and as a resource for people using our 15 miles of trail.
Annual training sessions are held in conjunction with Sandusky County Park District each winter, with FRTTI and SCPD alternating as the host. Additional opportunities for training are also available at other FRTTI VTP events throughout the year.
If you regularly use the trail and are of sound and good character, we encourage you to consider volunteering for the VTP. To do so, or to submit any questions or comments, please fill out the form below, which will be forwarded to out VTP coordinator.
